ONGOING PROJECTS

AUTHORIZED TO DELIVER THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH'S AWARDS

Commit to Make a Better You

Since November 2018, Rotary Club "Lituanica International" is an authorized center to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh's Award for young students, 14 - 24 years old. Upon achieving his/her goals in the three areas of personal development - skills, physical activity and community service - and completing a hike with a team of fellow students, a young person will be awarded Bronze, Silver or Golden Award, subject to duration and complexity of the program.

The program is led by the Sister Ms. Laura Guobužaitė, supported by licensed trainers of DofE in the Club and other members, who make experience of our students truly exceptional.

PROFESSIONAL AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE

Building World Peace and Understanding

With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to connect people from different countries and to create opportunities for professional and cultural exchange - from short-term trips and camps abroad, full school year abroad, to Friendship Exchange trips by Rotarians and professional internships for students and young professional.

Our Sister Mrs. Žydrė Gavelienė is the current District Chair (2019-2022) of all exchange programs, expanding foundations, built by the past District Chair Viktorija Trimbel (2014-2019), one of the founders of our Club.

More information about the Rotary Exchange programs can be found on www.youthexchange.lt

Our Club has raised funds from 2% income tax donations to be used to send a socially disadvantaged kid to a Rotary camp abroad. Please follow our news on Facebook to apply for this opportunity.

INTERNATIONAL KITCHEN

#GastronomyConnects

With this initiative, our goal is to promote different cultures and traditions through culinary experiences. We arrange cooking events based on different cuisines and traditions and invite fellow members, family and friends to cook together. Funds raised at such events are used in supporting our service projects.

Our traditional annual event, held every February or March, is the International Kitchen Night, co-hosted with the Rotary District 1462 and a district-wide Youth Exchange Program. We invite all inbound & rebound exchange students, host families, clubs, friends and everyone interested in learning different cultures and exchange opportunities to come and cook together the favorite meals from different home countries of our inbound students. We provide ingredients for cooking and everyone is making and tasting meals together, guided by a celebrity chef.

Follow our news and event anouncements to attend this experience.

COMPLETED PROJECTS

ENABLING SKILLS & INTEGRATION

#SkillsInsteadOfThings

In our community service projects we seek to create a lasting impact and to enable people to live fully to their potential.

We used funds, raised at our past International Kitchen event, to support Vilnius Technology Teaching and Rehabilitation Center, who teaches people with complex health difficulties professional skills in cooking, sewing and woodworking, so that they can find a job, matching their abilities, and support themselves at least partially. They started as a specialized school for deaf and poor-sighted students and has expanded their outreach to other health challenges. The Center stands out among other organisations with an excellent employ-ability rate of their students at 63-84% (the rest of the students simply can not work due to their condition).

We provided eco friendly cleaning supplies for their confectionery training classroom, as requested by the center.

YOUNG AMBASSADORS - TRAINING YOUTH TO TELL THEIR STORIES

#SkillsInsteadOfThings

We believe, that young people are our future and are we committed to train and mentor them, to open up new horizons and possibilities.

If we want to change the world, we need to tell inspiring stories.

This project was offered to gymnasium students, Interact club members and Rotary Exchange students and was dedicated to train them professional communication skills. We expect synergy from this project in spreading the news about other great service projects that our and other Rotary clubs are performing, and inspiring others to join.

100 X 100: ROTARY EXCHANGE STUDENTS FOR THE CENTENARY OF LITHUANIAN STATEHOOD RESTORATION

#BringTheWorldIntoYourBubble

In cooperation with Lithuanian Rotary District 1462, ROTEX and Vilnius International Interact Club, on the occasion of 100 years of restoration of Lithuanian Independent State in 1918, we prepared a travelling exhibition, collecting 100+ photos and thoughts of Lithuania from the participants of Rotary Exchange Programs.

Our goal is to promote Rotary and exchange opportunities as well as the beauty of Lithuania through the eyes of our observers. When you see a young person from a distant foreign country, taking picture of every green tree in the city, or enjoying snow, that is seen for the first time in their lives, you are reminded of the beauty of this country, often called the best kept secret in Europe.
